ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To study the clinical efficacy of voice training on voice recovery in patients with vocal cord polyps during perioperative period.METHODS A total of 72 patients with vocal cord polyp were chosen in this study and they were randomly divided into study group and control group. After operation, the control group received routine treatment, and the study group received voice training on the basis of routine treatment. The results of voice acoustic analysis in the two groups were compared at 8 weeks after operation.RESULTS After 8 weeks, the maximum phonation time(MPT), dysphonia severity index (DSI) and the highest frequency(F0-High) of the study group were significantly higher than that of control group (P0.05).CONCLUSION Voice training in the early postoperative period of vocal cord polyps was helpful to the recovery of the voice.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the risk factors of nosocomial infection in patients with postpartum hemorrhage and the distribution of common pathogens, and to provide basis for reducing the infection incidence in patients with postpartum hemorrhage. Methods 134 patients with postpartum hemorrhage admitted from Jan. 2011 to Dec.2013 in our hospital were studied. The incidence of infection was observed in patients, and clinical data of patients were analyzed by univariate and multivariate Logistic regression. The risk factors of infection were was observed and blood samples from infected patients were analyzed to observe the distribution of common patho-gens.Results Among the 134 cases, 42 cases had puerperal infection, accounting for 31.34%, and 4 cases had obstetric wound infection, accounting for 2.99%.Univariate analysis showed that advanced maternal age, high-risk pregnant women, midwifery or cesarean section, invasive treatment, and long hospital stay were risk factors for infection.Logistic regression analysis showed that high-risk pregnant women, midwifery or cesarean section, invasive treatment, and long hospital stay were independent risk factors for infection.52 pathogens were detected from 46 patients.28 Gram-positive bacteria were identified, of which 15 cases of were staphylococcus aureus, accounting for 28.85%and 22 Gram-negative bacteria were identified, of which 11 were escherichia co-li, accounting for 21.15%.Conclusions Gram-positive bacteria are the majority in patients with postpartum hemorrhage and infection.High-risk pregnant women, midwifery or cesarean section, invasive treatment, and long hospital stay are independent risk factors for infection.Puerperal infection also need to be noted when post-partum hemorrhage occurs.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to evaluate effect of Qinghua Granules (QHG) on glycometabolism, pancreatic islet function and oxidative stress in type-2 diabetics with heat syndrome. A total of 60 cases of type-2 diabetics with heat syndrome (according to the Syndrome Element Syndrome Differentiation) were enrolled in the clinic of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Tradi-tional Chinese Medicine. The average age of enrolled cases was (57.9 ± 6.9) years. Enrolled cases were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group. The original hypoglycemic plan was continued to use. In the treatment group, QHG was administrated. And in the control group, placebo was given. The administration dosage in both groups was one package per day. The treatment course was 12 weeks. The fasting and postpran-dial (120 min after standard meal) blood samples before and after medication were collected. The main evalua-tion indexes were fasting plasma glucose (FPG), postprandial plasma glucose (PPG) and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c). The secondary evaluation indexes were homeostasis model assessment (HOMA2-%B, HOMA2-%S, HOMA2%-IR), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), maleic dialdehyde (MDA), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL). The anal-ysis of variance was used in the comparison of efficacy between two groups . The results showed that HbA1c in the treatment group was obviously reduced, and HOMA2-%B was obviously increased. There was no significant changes in the control group ( P = 0 . 044 , P = 0 . 016 ) . In the treatment group , SOD increased obviously , MDA reduced obviously. There was no significant change in the control group. There was difference b etween two groups (P = 0.011, P = 0.049). There was no change on blood lipids or other evaluation indexes. It was conclud-ed that QHG is effective in the improvement of glycometabolism, islet β-cell functions and oxidative stress in type-2 diabetics with heat syndrome .

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To survey the etiology of sensorineural hearing loss with unknown reason and the incidence of the mutation of SLC26A4 2168A > G in Henan province.@*METHOD@#The evaluation of hearing loss, etiologic survey, the molecular genetic analysis and temporal bone CT examination for genes common to hereditary hearing disorders were performed in 95 hearing-impaired patients in Henan province.@*RESULT@#In the deafness group, the incidence of large vestibular aqueduct syndrome (LVAS) which correlates with SLC26A4 2168A > G is 6.32%. The incidence of the gene diagnosis conformed to the clinical one is 83.3%.@*CONCLUSION@#There is a high incidence of SLC26A4 2168 A > G mutation in sensorineural hearing loss with unknown reason. Molecular genetic screening for these mutations and genetic counseling are effective methods to prevent the occurrence of hereditary hearing loss.
